Cormo Sheep & Wool Farm

2009 Fleece Auction   Has Ended

The colored fleeces are from Cormo crossbred sheep. All of the fleeces have some degree of color variegation throughout the fleece. It was impossible for me to get photos that showed to true beauty, character and color of these fleeces. The plan was to get photos in good light with a beautiful background to show off these lovely fleeces. Between my camera, my lack of photography skills, the luster of the fleeces and many colors in each of the fleeces that plan was soon scratched. The colors of the fleeces were not showing true in the photos. It took lots of experimenting but the photos here, at least to me on my monitor, look pretty close to the actual colors of the fleeces. You can also look at he 2008 color fleece page and compare those scanned locks. Mars has the biggest change in color from last year's fleece. His 2009 fleece is still basically black but it has a lot more silver fibers.  I wish I had taken a picture of him after shearing. He looks marbled with little very thin lines of silver running around. Although the sheep are always covered the sun still reaches through the fabric and fades or browns the tips. The fleeces are very clean and have been well skirted.

These are all show quality fleeces. If you purchase one of these fleeces and would like to enter it in one of your local shows I would be happy to enter it for you if it qualifies. (As far as I know only the producer can enter a fleece in competitions.)

Auction Begins  4/28/09

Henna

Raven

Henna - Unique reddish brown color for my flock. Very soft, nice hand. Last year was top selling fleece at the Monterey wool show auction @ $29.lb. Raven - Was our blackest sheep. This year she has a few more silver fibers in her fleece and a small gray spot on her shoulder (look closely and you can see it in the photos). Very soft with fine crimp. She and Henna are the finest, both had 20 micron count last year.
4.25 in. Staple,  7.0 lbs. 4.5 inch Staple,  5.4 lbs.
$29 / lb.  Sold to Bob $25 /lb.  Sold to Frith

Mars and CD

CD

Mars

CD - Very soft, fine, deep crimp. The darker silver is around the edges of the fleece so it has not been skirted as heavily as normal in order to keep the color variation. This is a big fleece so it may be split down the center back. Mars - Lustrous, deep even crimp. Rich charcoal gray. See top of page about color. The "coarsest" of the group at 22 microns last year.
4.75 in. staple,  9.8 lbs.  This one may be split but must specify whole or half in bid.  I made a mistake on the staple length. It is really over 5 inches.    4.75 in. staple, 7.5 lbs.
$22/ lb. whole fleece   Sold to Victoria $29.33 / lb  Sold to James
